For many of us masticating and swallowing are activities that go as a matter of course. For several frail elderly persons the consumption of food can be an everyday challenge. While in their sunset years and faced with dignified aging can the personalised PERFORMANCE nutrition concept contribute to the health and well-being of elderly consumers facing swallowing and masticating difficulties? The 3D PERFORMANCE food concept prints full meals with even an additional function. They are personally enriched with nutrients?
On 16 September 2015, Sandra Forstner (Biozoon) will present PERFORMANCE at the VDI Wissensforum in Duisburg.

PERFORMANCE coordinator Matthias Kück (Biozoon) is invited as speaker to the EU Workshop on Dietary Strategies for Healthy Ageing.
Date: 18 May 2015, 11.00-14.00
Location: European pavilion (1st floor), Milano, Italy
Registration for the workshop is now open and the agenda available!
The proportion of elderly people over 65 years in Europe is predicted to increase from 25% to 40% by 2030, making it one of society’s greatest upcoming challenges. How to prevent functional decline and prolong quality of life? What is the effect of diet on ageing?
We need to understand the beneficial and harmful dietary factors as well as the specific needs and habits of the elderly population group. The workshop will present past and future EU funded research projects that contribute to a better understanding of nutritional needs for a better quality of life while ageing.
A roundtable discussion will follow for stakeholders to exchange ideas on dietary strategies and innovation potential.
You can also register for similar EC Events at the EXPO2015 during this week:
OLI-PHA is a 3 year R&D Project that is being funded by EC´s under the FP7 NMP programme. The project deals with the development of a novel method for the production of polyhydroxyalkanoate polymer-based packaging from olive oil waste water.
The OLI-PHA consortium, and the host INSTM (UNIPI research unit of Prof. Lazzeri), is pleased to invite you to a scientific workshop on “Biopolymers from waste valorisation” as well as to a demonstration event from the project which will be held in Pisa on May 12-13.
